Ongole: Awareness rally on energy conservation taken out

Ongole: Prakasam district Collector Dr Pola Bhaskara said that it is the responsibility of every consumer to save energy and pass on the resources to the future generations.

The Collector flagged off the awareness rally from the Central Power Distribution Company of AP here to mark the Energy Conservation Week starting from Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector advised people to make it a habit to save energy, and use the refrigerators, air conditioners, coolers, washing machines, geysers and other appliances properly and only up to the requirement. He said that the use of LED bulbs instead of the regular bulbs, star-rated appliances in the place of unrated appliances save the electricity to a larger extent.

He said the offices, guest houses, malls, cinema theatres and other places must use the star-rated ACs and advised the farmers to use only ISI rated pump sets in the fields. He suggested the local bodies to see the electricity demand for street lights are reduced to 50 per cent. He advised them to automatically switch on the streetlights at 7 pm and off at 5am.

The APCPDCL SE Sivaprasad Reddy, DE Abdul Karim and other staff also participated in the programme.
