Ongole: Constitution Day celebrated with great fervour

Ongole: The district administration, academic institutions and public organisations in the Prakasam district celebrated the Constitution Day on Thursday and pledged to uphold its spirit.

The district collector Dr P Bhaskar garlanded the statue of Dr BR Ambedkar at the HCM College and said that on November 26, 1949, the constituent assembly of India had adapted the constitution that was submitted by Dr BR Ambedkar. He said that the government has announced to celebrate the day November 26 as the Constitution Day every year to commemorate the adoption of the constitution. He praised Ambedkar for studying the life of various sections of society, including the downtrodden people. He said that Ambedkar has brought a balance between the necessities of the country and the public by framing the rights, roles, and responsibilities of the citizens.

JC JV Murali, DRO K Vinayakam, special deputy collector Sarala Vandanam and others also participated in the program.

District panchayat officer GV Narayana Reddy and staff in his office took the pledge as part of the Constitution Day celebrations. They read out the Preamble of the Constitution.

Principal D Kalyani and staff of GS Government Degree College for Women also took the pledge and organised Constitution Day celebrations.

Prakasam district additional SP B Ravichandra participated in the Constitution Day celebrations at the Galaxy meeting hall in District Police Office and explained about the Constitution and how it was safeguarding the right of the common public equally with the rich and influenced people. He administered the Constitution Day pledge with the staff while all the police personnel from all police stations and those in the cyclone duty also took the same.

AR DSP K Raghavendra Rao, office AO K Sulochana, SB CI V Suryanarayana, and others also participated in the program.

District judge P Venkata Jyothirmai participated in the Constitution Day, National Law Day, and Anti Dowry Day celebrations in the District Legal Services Authority office. She said that the country adopted the Constitution to eradicate social evils and provide equal justice to all sections of the public. She emphasised that everyone is equal before the law and there will be no discrimination according to the religion, race, caste, or financial status of the accused.

The seventh additional judge MD Fazululla, secretary of DLSA P Srinivasa Rao, family court judge G Manohar Reddy, senior civil judges B Sobhakumari, S Jayalakshmi, and others also participated in the programme.
