Ongole: District Collector Dr Pola Bhaskara paid Glowing tributes to Potti Sriramulu
Ongole: Potti Sriramulu had fought for many social reformations and he was the man who fought for the pride and development of the Andhra people, said the Prakasam District Collector Dr. Pola Bhaskara. He paid glowing tributes to Sriramulu by garlanding his statue at the CVN Reading Room in the town on Monday.
The District Collector said that Potti Sriramulu has fought against many social evils including the untouchability and provided entry to many dalits into temples. He made a movement for the rights and respect of Andhra people in the Madras State and for the bifurcation of the State. He said that Sriramulu sacrificed his life to achieve a separate state for Andhra people.
The District Collector advised people to get inspiration from his selfless life and cooperate for the development of the state.
Additional Joint Collector K Narendra Prasad, DRO V Venkata Subbaiah and other staff members also paid floral tributes to Poti Sriramulu.
The Acharya Nagarjuna University Ongole Campus staff garlanded the photograph of Sriramulu and paid tributes to him in the office. Special officer Dr. B Krishna said that Sriramulu has gone on hunger strike for 58 days for the formation of Andhra state.
Additional Superintendent of police B Sarath Babu celebrated the birthday of Potti Sriramulu in the district police office. DSPs K Venugopal, A Prasad Kumar, A Raghavendra, AO M Sulochana, SB CIs TVV Pratap Kumar, N Srikanth Babu, and others also paid tributes to the leader.
The All India Mahatma Social Club, Vasavi Club Ongole Citizens, Vasavi Club KCGF Youth paid floral tributes to the Potti Sriramulu by garlanding his statue. They remembered the services of Sriramulu and demanded the government to include the life story of Potti Sriramulu as a lesson in the syllabus
