Ongole gastro surgeon Dr Karthik Babu Perumalla enters Limca Book of Records

Ongole: Dr Karthik Babu Perumalla, a renowned laparoscopy and gastro surgeon at Ramesh Sanghamitra Hospital in Ongole, is featured in the Limca Book of Records for surgically removing the largest small intestine tumour.

Dr Karthik removed the tumour of dimensions 21 cm x 19 cm x 13 cm from the small intestine of a patient, by conducting the surgery at Ramesh Sanghamitra Hospital on March 1, 2019. The Limca Book of Records recognised the size of tumour as the largest tumor surgically removed in India, after verifying the CT scan and biopsy records along with other proofs and communicated the same to doctor and hospital management by sending a plaque.

Minister for energy, environment, forests, science, and technology Balineni Srinivas Reddy appreciated Dr Karthik Perumalla on Friday for the rare feat achieved by him and for bringing laurels to the district and state in the national level.

Dr Tirumal Reddy, managing director of the hospital, also appreciated him for achieving a remarkable moment in the career. Dr Karthik said that he would work hard and continue to represent the good work of the state, medical fraternity at the national level in the future.
