Prakasam SP Siddharth Kaushal receiving complaints from public at Spandana programme in Ongole on Monday

Ongole: The Prakasam district police registered a complaint on the Om Sri Gayatri Viswakarma University in the Spandana programme held at the SP office in Ongole on Monday.

SP Siddharth Kaushal received the complaint from Gopavarapu Sainath Reddy of Pedakurapadu mandal in Guntur district. In the complaint, Sainath Reddy stated that he joined MSc Agronomy course in the said university near Ongole in 2019 believing the advertisement in a newspaper that they had all permissions and infrastructure to offer the course.

Sainath said that he had paid Rs 1.25 lakh as fees to the university at the time of admission, but found out they didn't have any infrastructure, staff or permissions to run the college. He complained that the university management cheated many students in a similar manner and asked the SP to do justice. The SP ordered the Ongole rural inspector to initiate an investigation and take necessary action immediately.

Meanwhile, the Prakasam district collector Dr Pola Bhaskara announced on Sunday that the district administration has decided to arrange a quarantine ward in the Om Sri Gayatri Viswakarma University as its management said it is non-functioning for a while. In the Spandana on Monday, the SP received a total of 62 complaints and ordered the concerned officers for action. Additional SP B Sarath Babu, traffic DSP K Venugopal, CCS DSP A Prasad and SB II CI N Srikanth Babu participated in the programme.
