Ongole: Police nab 2 inter-district thieves
Ongole: With the increased surveillance on habitual offenders and old criminals, the district police arrested two inter-district criminals, who were involved in a number of thefts, and recovered booty worth Rs 13 lakh, announced Prakasam SP Malika Garg.
Speaking at a press meet at the district police office here on Tuesday, SP Malika Garg informed that the department has stepped up surveillance on old offenders and monitoring their movements. She said that CCS Inspector K Venkateswara Rao received information about suspicious movement of old offenders, and alerted Taluka CI V Srinivasa Reddy, SI Deva Prabhakar and other staff. They arrested the accused Shaik Mogul Rahool of Ongole and Kagitha Sreenath of Repalle in Guntur district at Pernamitta on Monday for their involvement in several theft cases including two motorcycles.
The SP informed the police recovered the motorcycles stolen in Ongole, gold jewellery weighing about 160 grams, silver articles weighing about 3.25 kg, one LED TV, one mobile phone, in all total worth of Rs 13 lakhs. She said that they found the accused were involved in 14 cases including thefts in Repalle, Bhattiprolu, Tenali rural and Nallapadu limits of Guntur district.
Malika Garg explained that Shaik Sahool, brother of Rahool was convicted for seven years of imprisonment and met Sreenath in Guntur jail. He introduced his brother Rahool to Sreenath, who gave him shelter at Repalle. The SP said that Rahool was involved in 30 thefts in Prakasam and two each in Nellore and Guntur districts earlier and they opened a suspect sheet on him at Ongole Taluka PS.
The SP appreciated CCS CI K Venkateswara Rao, Taluka CI V Srinivasa Reddy, SI Deva Prabhakar, HC Y Venkateswarlu and other staff at CCS and Taluka PS for their efforts.
