Ongole: Prakasam district back in action in spite of lockdown
Ongole: The people in the Prakasam district just sprang into action immediately after the end of Janata Curfew, neglecting the government ordering the lockdown of the State and the Collector announcing the implementation of the Section 144.
The roads of Ongole are bustling with the people and vehicles roaming all around the town since Monday morning.
As the government shutdown the operations of passenger trains and the public transport department, many people from the neighboring villages used the auto-rickshaws for the commute. Most of the public are seen shopping groceries and vegetables and hoarding them, though the government announced that the groceries, milk, medical stores will continue to function along with the emergency services.
Many of the buyers of vegetables complained that the merchants inflated the prices at the new and old vegetable markets. The rate of fruits also said to be increased by 20 percent and the customers felt a hole in the pocket. However, the police department maintained patience and advised the public to stay home to stay healthy.
The police officials at Ongole, Giddalur, Kandukur, Chirala, Markapur and all other places tried to create awareness among the public on the importance of home isolation for everyone in the containment and control of the Coronavirus. They said that as the lockdown is about to continue for more than a week, they are just giving the public to fill the supplies and make arrangements for the peaceful stay at home.
