Ongole: Short circuit at pharma firm triggers alarm among locals

Ongole: The alert locals and onlookers immediately responded to dark smoke engulfed the Minopharm, a small pharma industry at Pernamitta in Ongole on Friday afternoon and evacuated the building.

The industry is manufacturing alcohol-based hand sanitisers for a few weeks. The company employees opined that the alcohol stored in the room would have caught fire due to the short circuit and the thick smoke covered the two floors in no time.

The fire tenders reached the spot and controlled the fire and brought the situation under control. The police and fire department officials registered a case and started the investigation.
