Ongole: Slums can be developed with community service
Ongole: Slums on the outskirts of the urban areas can be developed by offering community services by the students from universities and by sharing the fruits of the evolving technologies, said the NSS Coordinator of Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur, Prof L Uday Kumar.
He participated as a chief guest at the valedictory function of the NSS Camp organized at Pragathi Colony in Ongole on Thursday.
Speaking at the programme, Uday Kumar appreciated the NSS unit of the ANU PG Centre in Ongole for conducting the week-long camp and said that adopting the slums and developing them by offering community service by the NSS cadets would help them compete in the development with other areas. He said that the data collected as part of the camp would be helpful to the government to provide necessary facilities like school and community hall etc in the colony.
Another guest ANU Ongole campus special officer Dr B Krishna said that social service is no less than service to god. Another guest AKTPU OSD Dr KVN Raju said that students should develop compassion and social awareness along with the grades and ranks in the studies. Other guests Jai Bheem Nageswara Rao, P Salmon Raju and others also spoke as the NSS programme officer Dr Harsha Preetham Dev Kumar presided over the programme.
