Ongole: The Prakasam district Anti Corruption Bureau officials conducted a raid on the tahsildar office of Veligandla mandal on Friday and trapped the revenue inspector Shaik Fayaz red-handedly for taking a bribe.

A farmer, Medam Lakshminarayana Reddy of the Papireddypalli village approached the ACB officials and complained that the RI Fayaz is troubling her in issuing the pattadar passbook and demanding Rs 10000 as a bribe for completing formalities.

The ACB additional SP N Suresh, inspector NSS Aparna, Raghavarao, Venkateswarlu, and other staff hatched the plan and sent the money to the revenue inspector. They raided the office as the officer accepted the bribe from the complainant.

Later, they conducted searches in the house of the accused officer and seized Rs 29000 unaccounted cash and other 9 pattadar passbooks.

The accused revenue inspector Shaik Faiaz is booked under the prevention of corruption act and sent for remand, announced the ACB officials.
