Onions to be sold at 25 in Rythu Bazaars in Vizianagaram
Vizianagaram: The State government has taken measures to minimise the agony of public over rising onion price and made arrangements to sell the commodity at Rythu Bazaars on subsidised price. The price of onion is rising abnormally in the past few days and at present, the cost of a kg onion in open market is around Rs 50.
The raising price made the people unhappy and started adverse comments on government. With this the government has decided to sale the onions at less price in Rythu Bazaars. Vizianagaram district got around 5.9 metric tonnes of onions from Kurnool and selling them at Rs 25 a kg at Rythu Bazaars.
On Saturday, Joint Collector M Venkataramana Reddy opened a counter and sold the onions to consumers at R&B Rythu Bazaar. Later, he said that the onions are available at all the three Rythu Bazaars in Vizianagaram city and based on the requirement, the government would send some more loads of onions. Estate officer Ch Satyanarayana also participated.
