Onset of monsoon brings fears on common cold, during COVID19 pandemic

Amaravati: The onset of monsoon has been creating concerns over the possible spread of epidemics like common cold, cough and fever, amidst the Coronavirus pandemic. In addition to that, the spread of communicable diseases like Malaria and Dengue also likely to increase during the monsoon season, according to the experts.

Reacting on the same, Dr Mandava Srinivasa Rao, Medical Officer, Government General Hospital, Guntur observed that people must take more care and preventive measures to avoid both common communicable diseases and also COVID 19 pandemic.

He suggested avoiding large gatherings and conglomerations. The doctor also suggested people not to go into the rains. Inculcating a habit of taking lukewarm water instead of chilled and cold water will help in preventing the common cold. He further said that as best as possible avoid the usage of Air Conditions. Practising steam inhalation will further increase the immunity, he observed. The water must be boiled by mixing one tablespoon of turmeric powder and Vicks vapour. This inhalation must be done twice a day for ten minutes each time.

One should wear the mask as mandatory whenever they come out of the home and wash the hands and face with soap water without fail, whenever they touch the things in the outside of the house. He also suggested practising all the COVID19 precautions strictly, which would help in preventing both the coronavirus as well as other flues.

On the other hand, the entire Health Department engaged in the prevention of the spread of corona pandemic in the State.
