Tirupati: Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Tirupati organised BSMS-2019 orientation programme for students and parents of the new batch. Around 140 students have taken admission into the BSMS programme and 70 students into PhD and IPhD courses.

IISER Director Prof KN Ganesh addressed the students emphasising mainly on the outcome of the programmes, campus culture, permanent campus and extra-curricular activities etc., The first year students will stay in the Indian Culinary Institute (ICI) as the hostel in the transit campus is not yet ready. As the hostel space was already consumed on the transit campus, thankfully, ICI has given the hostel accommodation for 150 students and also classrooms for lectures.

Students commute to transit campus for labs and tutorials. Parents were delighted seeing both the campuses. Later, students were made aware of various committees on campus like anti-ragging, counselling for students and women cell.

The first two weeks will be induction programme for the BSMS-2019 students. Actual classes start from August 13, 2019 said the Assistant Registrar Chaman Mehta.
