Orientation programme on Vedic Maths held in Vijayawada
Vijayawada: The Department of Mathematics of Siddhartha Mahila College organised a one-day orientation programme on 'Vedic Mathematics' on the college premises on Friday. The resource person of the orientation programme was Dr TSVS Surya Narayana.
Addressing the gathering, Surya Narayana said Mathematics was derived from one of the four Vedas, Adharvana Veda. By using 16 formulas and 13 sub-formulas of Adharvana Veda, problems of arithmetic, geometry, calculus, algebra, conics can be solved easily.
The Vedic mathematics book was written by Swamy Bharathi Krishna and was printed in 1965 for the first time, he said. College Director Dr T Vijayalakshmi said that Vedic mathematics was useful in our daily life and the students should make the best use of this opportunity of knowing more about Vedic mathematics.
College Principal Dr M Nalini said that Mathematics is called the 'Queen of Sciences' and the students should be proud to be pursuing mathematics. Mathematics Head of the Department S Sudhavani, PV Durgavathi, M Dhana Lakshmi, G Jyothi students and others were present on the occasion.
