Panchakarma units in Chittoor, Kadapa soon
Chittoor: AYUSH Regional Joint Director (RJD) Dr D Venkatarama Naik said that one each Panchakarma unit would be established in Chittoor and Kadapa districts shortly for extending specialised services to patients. Each unit will be set up by spending Rs 10 crore, the RJD said and added that required staff including specialist doctors would be appointed in Panchakarma units.
Speaking to The Hans India here on Saturday, Dr Naik said each Panchakarma unit will begin with 10 beds. "Already a site was acquired in Chittoor and Rs 50 lakh worth medical equipment was procured and kept at Chittoor Ayurvedic Government Dispensary," he stated. The RJD said that there are proposals to open wellness centres in Anantapur, Proddatur, Kurnool and Kuppam for strengthening the existing PHCs.
He mentioned 187 AYUSH dispensaries are providing services in Rayalaseema region. He reiterated that it was mandatory to treat a minimum of 40 out-patients in rural and 60 patients in urban in the AYUSH dispensaries. He admitted that there was shortage of staff in the existing AYUSH dispensaries in Rayalaseema region.
Earlier, the RJD has participated in District AYUSH Medical Officers' meeting held at Tapovanam. District AYUSH Medical Officers Association President Dr Srinivas, senior medical officers Dr Vijayakumar and Dr Jawed were also present.
