Parchuru: Man climbs cell phone tower, threatens suicide due to marital issues
Parchuru: A man, identified himself as Chandu native of Tulasi Nagar in Guntur climbed the cell phone signal tower in Annambhotlavari Palem in Parchuru mandal and demanded the authorities to convince the parents of his wife to send her with him. However, he came down after consuming pesticide and was shifted to a hospital in Chilakaluri Pet for treatment.
The man claims that he and Vijayalakshmi, a B. Pharmacy student at SWIMS Medical College in Guntur and native of Annambhotlavari Palem are in love for two years. As the elders didn't accept their love, he claimed that they both eloped and married in a temple in Mangalagiri on August 20. He said that the family of the girl took her away from him and is trying to get her married to a groom settled in Australia. He claimed that he had already attempted suicide once by consuming pesticide, but was saved by the doctors.
Chandu climbed the cell phone tower this morning and announced that he will commit suicide by jumping off. The police and fire service officials reached the spot and tried to convince him to come down and discuss later. But he consumed pesticide before coming down from the tower and the police shifted him to a hospital in Chilakaluri Pet for treatment immediately.
