Parties get ready for local body polls in Kadapa

Kadapa: Though the elections for local bodies are yet to be announced officially, major political parties are chalking out plans to win in the elections. In 2014, the elections were held for municipalities, ZPTCs, MPTCs and panchayats before general elections.

The term of ZPTCs, MPTCs, ZP Chairman, Sarpanches, Municipal chairmen were ended in June and July this year. The YSR Congress government is keen on conducting the elections for local bodies as early as possible.

In 2014, the parties considered the polls for civic bodies as rehearsal for Assembly elections and tactfully planned their strategy. But now the situation is entirely different as the leaders have to do hard work to divert the attention of people from the ruling party.

Parties like the Congress, BJP, CPM, CPI, Jana Sena are in the race but their contest will be nominal just to prove their existence. The main fight will be between the YSR Congress and TDP.

The ruling YSR Congress which has bagged 10 Assembly and 2 MP seats in 2019 elections is going ahead with the same spirit. The party is confident of winning majority seats after introducing welfare schemes like Rythu Bhasora, Vahana Mitra, Village Secretariat and Ammavodi as they would benefit a larger section of people.

The TDP is depending on negative vote bank by canvassing anti-people policies of YSRC government like unscheduled power cuts, cancellation of Anna canteens etc.

Deputy Chief Minister Amzath Basha has been entrusted the responsibility to ensure victory in the elections in the district, it is said. TDP is proposed to fix up the responsibility on the local leaders in their respective constituencies.
