Passport Office launches student connect in GITAM
Visakhapatnam: To ease the passport application process for the university students, the Regional Passport Office in Vizag launched a student connect programme at GITAM Deemed to be University on Saturday.
The event was inaugurated by GITAM Deemed to be University Vice-Chancellor K Sivarama Krishna in the presence of Regional Passport Officer N L P Chowdary and Assistant Passport officer K N Subbarao.
On the occasion, the VC advised the students to avail the opportunity to get their passports during their study on varsity campus which will help them to travel to different parts of the globe under student exchange programmes and higher studies.
He advised the students who are perusing professional courses must have a passport for better career opportunities. He thanked the passport office for simplifying the passport application process.
Regional Passport Officer N L P Chowdary said, "The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) students connect is aimed at preparing globally ready students by helping to avail of passport in a simple manner."
He said, "We will facilitate students by allotting special time slots for walk-in processing of applications sans appointment at Passport Seva Kendra." He also informed that the passport office will issue the passport within 10 days period which will include police verification.
