Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy urges legislators, officials to make use of job scheme

Amaravati: Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy on Thursday appealed to the people's representatives and the officials in Krishna, East and West Godavari districts to utilise the MGNREGA funds to the maximum extent.

Addressing a meeting, the Minister said as much as Rs 15 crore has been allotted for each Assembly Constituency for undertaking MGNREGA works. Likewise, as much as Rs 40 lakh was allotted for the construction of Village Secretariats in each constituency.

Ramachandra Reddy said a total of Rs one crore has been earmarked for each Assembly constituency as conservancy fund which could be utilised as matching grant for MGNREGA works.

He also suggested that the officials give priority to the construction of cement roads in the villages. The MGNREGA funds could be utilised in full for the construction of Village Secretariats, the Minister said.

The officials could utilise 70 per cent of MGNREGA funds and 30 per cent of funds under Swatchandra Corporation for the construction of CC drains, he said and added that hundred per cent MGNREGA funds could be used for the construction of compound walls for the schools and levelling of house sites.

Ministers Perni Nani, Mopidevi Venkataramana, Mekathoti Sucharita, Taneti Vanita, Alla Nani, Sri Ranganatha Raju and Deputy Speaker Kona Raghupati along with a number of MLAs participated in the meeting.
