Petition filed in AP High Court seeking recovery of amount spent for painting of colours to govt. buildings
The controversy of painting of YSRCP colours to government buildings has once again came to the fore for offices in Andhra Pradesh. The petition was once again filed in the high court alleging that the YSR Congress party had painted the panchayat offices and other government buildings with party colours by spending Rs 4,000 crore for removing the paints. The petitioner said that Rs 4,000 crore should be deposited in the treasury by YSRCP.
The petition was filed by making Chief Secretary Nilam Sawhney, Ministers Buggana Rajendranath Reddy and Botsa Satyanarayana as personal respondents. The court directed the petitioner to file the affidavit properly and questioned why the chief secretary and the ministers were included as personal respondents.
The petition was filed in the AP High Court alleging that the state government was painting government offices with colours similar to YSRCP. The court ordered the colours to be changed and cancelled GO 623 given by the government on the issue. The High Court has directed the AP government not to paint government offices with party colours. The court was outraged that the government was not complying with the orders they had issued in the past and also struck down GO 623 issued by the government regarding colors.
