Platinum jubilee of Ambedkar's visit on Sept 30

Eluru: Deputy Chief Minister Alla Nani has informed that the platinum jubilee year of Architect of Constitution Dr BR Ambedkar's visit to Eluru would be celebrated on a grand note on September 30.

A group of Scheduled Caste leaders met the Minister at his camp office here on Tuesday, and requested him to conduct the completion of 75 years of Ambedkar's visit to Eluru in 1946 in a gaudy manner. Responding to this, the Minister assured all the necessary help in this regard.

Nani will inaugurate a statue of Ambedkar and release poster and brochures on Ambedkar on the occasion. The SC leaders also urged the minister to announce holiday for schools in Eluru, Denduluru, Pedapadu, Pedavegi and Dwaraka Tirumala mandals on September 30 as the function would be held at the same junior college where Ambedkar visited and mingled with local people.
