Vijayawada: Dalit Sthree Sakthi (DSS) organised a meeting at Press Club here on Tuesday. The chief guest of the programme was Change Alliance national leader Johnson Topno. DSS national convener G Jhansi, programme manager Daniel Prakash, coordinator Hema and various women organisation leaders were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, Johnson Topno briefed about various problems dalit women are facing in rural, urban and semi urban places and opined that the government should show special interest to solve the problems.

He said that the government should come up with a strategic plan to resolve the problems faced by the Dalits instead of announcing corporations and others schemes. He said that as per the ratio of Dalits in the state the state should allocate funds and release them.

He further said that the Dalits are facing problems due to lack of burial land, houses, sites to construct houses, drinking water, drainage, unemployment and most important is attacks on Dalit women. The government should take stern action against the people who attack Dalit women and bring new policies to uplift them, he added.
