Polavaram Crisis: Andhra Pradesh High Court questions APGENCO over scrapping of Navayuga contracts

Update: 2019-11-13 10:43 IST

The High Court today asked the APGENCO why it did not give reasons for the termination of the Polavaram Hydro Power Project (PHEP) contract. Has a violation of specific regulations been imposed? The arguments ended on Tuesday in an appeal filed by the NAvayuga Engineering company in High Court challenging the single judge's revocation of previous stay orders on the termination of the PHEP agreement.

Senior advocate P Wilson argued on behalf of the Navayuga group ad said that APGENCO had cancelled the agreement without prior notice and explanation. We still have time to complete the PHEP work. "The decision to terminate the agreement was taken at a meeting held in the presence of the chief minister. The deal was between GENCO and us. There is no government role in this affair. Single Judge Stay at the outset of what he thinks are appropriate grounds." the petitioner argued.

The Polavaram Project Authority has made it clear to the state government not to reverse the tender process. However, the single tender came to work overnight. The petitioner asked the court to vacate the stay and asked the single judge to cancel orders issued by the single judge.
