Police arrested 5 red sander smugglers recovered 30lakh worth 45 red sander logs
Kadapa: In a joint operation by police and task force officials have seized Rs 30lakhs worth one hand a halftone weighed 45 red sander logs, four vehicles by arresting 5 red sander smugglers at Chennuru forest area wee hours of Monday.
The accused were identified as Sheik Lal Basha, Shiek Jakir, Shiek Chan Basha, of Chapadu Mandal, Chinna Swamy Tirupati Takil Katta village, Palani Swamy Govinda Kada village Dharmapuri district Tamil Nadu state.
Addressing press conference here on Monday Kadapa city U. Suryanarayana said following credible information they have conducted raids at gani bavi area in chennuru forest and arrested the accused while loading red sander logs in the lorries. However, the DSP said that another two woodcutters have managed to escape from the scene by hurling stones at the police.
The DSP said among five Sheik Lal Basha, Sheik Chan Basha was the brothers each have to face 50 cases related to involving red sander smuggling in Kadapa district. The DSP appreciated police of their initiative in arresting the culprits.
