Police conduct Grama Sabhas to prevent crimes: SP

Tirupati: Urban Police have taken up conduct of Grama Sabhas as part of their friendly policing practices for the past some weeks with the aim of creating awareness to prevent various types of crimes. For this they are conducting Grama Sabhas (close interactions) in villages.

It has been giving good result in villages. SP KKN Anburajan has taken initiative for the programme. Urban Police are going to villages for conducting Grama Sabhas and they are staying in villages during nights to know the villagers' opinions about functioning of police regarding law and order maintenance.

All the CIs and SIs of Tirupati east, west , Renigunta and Srikalahasti Law and Order Sub divisions are visiting one village per day in their respective police station limits.

Primary aim of conducting Grama Sabhas is to educate the locals on prevention of cyber crimes as well as other Law and Order problems, the SP said.

Mainly urban police are explaining about cheaters how they collect bank account numbers and other secret passwords from the uneducated villagers and how they withdraw money from villagers accounts through online without the knowledge of account holder, said SP KKN Anburajan.

He further said to The Hans India told that, our basic aim is to create awareness among locals in villages to prevent crimes successfully by friendly policing. As part of this concept, we are sending our police officials to villages and initiated Palle Nidra Programme along with Grama Sabha. Through this Grama Sabha activities, we are receiving lot of information regarding law and order maintenance, he said.
