Police crack whip on high speed motor bike racers : Visakhapatnam
Visakhapatnam: The police cracked the whip on high speed motor bike racers who have become a menace to the citizens of the city in the recent past. It is learnt that the youth, possessing high speed motor vehicles, undertake racing between 12 midnight and 3 am at RK Beach, Telugu Talli Statue and other parts of the city causing inconvenience to the fellow commuters, general public, risking their own lives. The police department formed special teams and went through the electronic surveillance systems such as the CCTV cameras and found a number of youths participating in such races. They have identified 80 vehicles participated in such races so far. Of which, 37 have been seized. For the first time offenders, the driving licence will be cancelled. If they were found involved in subsequent violations, the motorcycle registration will also be cancelled for them. At present, the police have initiated action against 52 owners of two-wheelers involved in race.
This apart, the police have also observed that those involved in food delivery exercise continue to resort to speaking over mobile phones while riding bikes posing risk to road users. The police said that action will be taken against them too.
