Police hold marathon running race in Ongole

Ongole: Prakasam District Additional Superintendant of Police B Sharat Babu flagged off a marathon run to mark Police Commemoration Week celebrations here on Thursday.

The marathon run started at Collectorate and proceeded through Sanghamithra, Summer Storage Tank, Mangamurudonka road junction, Taluka office and reached district police kalyanamandapam.

Speaking on the occasion, Sharat Babu said that police commemoration day was observed on October 21 since 1959 when the Indian troops fought with the Chinese troops at the border laying down their lives. However, one week prior to October 21, we celebrate Police Commemoration Week and students are taught about police duties, details about weapons, he added.

They organise an essay-writing, debate and painting competitions to the school and college students including police personnel. He said that the people should remember that we are able to live happily due to the sacrifice of the police personnel at the borders. SDPO KVVSV Prasad, AR DSP Raghavendra Rao, traffic CSP K Venugopal, Circle Inspector of Police N Srikanth and others were present on the occasion.
