Political parties warned the central Government to close Uranium factory
Kadapa: Speakers in the meeting organized by Jana Vignana Vedika (JVV) here on Saturday have demanded the central government immediately close Uranium factory located in the Tummalapalle village. The speakers also threaten to intensify the agitation in a phased manner if the central government fails to close the unit. Except YSR Congress remaining CPI, CPM, TDP, Congress, farmers from KK Kottala, Mabbuchinthala palle, Kanampalle, Tummalapalle Vemula etc 10 villages participated in the meeting.
While narrating his bitter experience K.Ramasubba Reddy of KK Kottala village said he had incurred Rs 20lakhs on Banana, Sweet lemon, groundnut crops for the last two years. He alleged that despite they have stated protests several times to pressure on the government but in vain due to lack of support from the local political parties.
Another farmer from the same village alleged that late YS Rajasekhar Reddy was responsible for proposing to establish the Uranium factory and late YS Vivekananda Reddy takes initiative in establishing the unit against the wishes of people by misguiding them providing employment to the local's compensation to the farmers who have given the land for Uranium factory. He said that the factory management least bothered after the establishment of the unit.
CPM district M.Eswaraiah said that his party stand is very clear as there will be no compromise Uranium must be closed. He said CPI will organize a big protest on 27th September in the centralcentralstate capital over the issue. CPM district secretary A.Anjaneyulu said his party also fighting on the same stand until the closure of uranium factory. He said that three people in KK Kottala were died of throat cancer due to consumption of polluted water in the village. TDP district president SK.Zeelani Basha demanded the chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to clear his stand over the issue as the Uranium factory is situated in Pulivendula constituency represented by him.
Former Rajyasabha member and CPM state general secretary P.Madhu has demanded the government to immediately pay compensation to the farmers who have incurred crop losses for the last couple of years.
On this occasion, the meeting has decided to organize awareness camps in the colleges, schools, in all Mandals of the district by involving doctors, advocates, intellectuals, voluntary organizations to motivate the public over the intensity of the situation. JVV secretary M.Suneetha and others were present.
