Pollution-free Ganesh idols distributed by Judge R Srinivas Rao
Nandigama: The 16th additional district civil judge R Srinivas Rao distributed about 2,000 Ganesh idols made of clay to school children at Gandhi Bomma centre here on Saturday. The programme was organised by Paryavarana Parirakshana Samathi (PPS).
Speaking on the occasion, Srinivas Rao said that students should have awareness on protecting the environment right from their school days. He said that everyone should use clay for making Ganesh idols instead of Plaster of Paris which was harmful on the environment.
He appreciated the members and PPS Nandigama president Ramireddi Sridhar for taking up this noble cause of protecting the environment. Retired principal Turlapati Koteshwara Rao said one should use clay Ganesh idols so that the living creatures in canals and rivers were not harmed.
PPS president Sridhar said one should live in a pollution-free environment else it is difficult to survive. Idols made of Plaster of Paris and chemicals would result in a high degree of pollution, he said.
Nandigama SI E Tatacharyulu, advocate V Satyanarayana, M Satyanarayana, G Haribabu, Ramu, students of Kakatiya Apollo Institute and AVRPM school were present.
