Potu workers asked to follow norms to prevent fire mishaps: Additional EO AV Dharma Reddy
Tirumala : TTD Additional Executive Officer AV Dharma Reddy on Thursday held a meeting with workers engaged in the preparation of Boondi in the Potu (temple kitchen).
During his hour long meeting, Dharma Reddy urged Srivari Potu workers to strictly follow the safety norms stipulated by fire department to prevent fire mishaps at Potu. He pointed out that human error was found to be the reason for the fire mishap occurred in the Potu.
Reddy said that fire mishaps in the Potu are giving scope to criticism on the safety. He said that guidelines by the fire and temple officials will be framed soon to evolve a standard operating procedure (SOP) for the workers to follow to enhance the safety measures.
The Addl. EO earlier held a lengthy meeting with Engineering, fire and temple officials on Tuesday on the recent fire mishap and the measures to be taken by the TTD to prevent fire mishaps. Tirumala temple DyEO Harindranath, AEO Potu Srinivasulu and Potu workers participated.
Inspection:
Additional Executive Officer AV Dharma Reddy said the modernisation works with an outlay of Rs 100 crores have been taken up at all rest houses in Tirumala to improve facilities. He, along with other officials inspected the rest houses and enquired about the available facilities.
