Poverty is not an obstacle to education: DEO
Ongole: To the students who are interested in education, poverty is not at all an obstacle now, said the district education officer VS Subbarao. He participated as the chief guest to the 19th presentation ceremony of Pratibha Puraskarams for the Padmasali Students by the Kavartapu Adilakshmamma Markandeya Educational Society in Ongole on Sunday.
The society has announced Pratibha Purasakarams to the Padmasali students from the poor family background but has merit in academics. They distributed scholarships to students who passed Class X and Intermediate in government and aided schools and colleges.
The DEO said that the government is extending all possible help to the students through scholarships and free education and now introducing Amma Vodi scheme to help the poor students. He advised the students to make utilise of the government programmes and reach better positions in career.
Kavartapu Srinivasarao, honorary president of the society explained about the motto behind the formation of the society while Kavartapu Balakrishna Rao, president of the society said that they are presenting awards for the last 19 years and wished the students do well in studies and achieve great positions in life.
The DEO felicitated the president of the society for being helpful to the students for almost two decades. Educationalists Damarla Ramakrishna and Krishnamraju also congratulated the award winners and blessed the students.
