Power bills have increased due to over-consuming amid summer: Minister Balineni Srinivasa Reddy
Andhra Pradesh state Power Minister Mr. Balineni Srinivasa Reddy slammed at opposition parties who are protesting against the increase of power charges in the state. He termed it to be unnecessary and asserted that there is such thing of hiking the power charges. "The government has changed the tariff policy only after the Electricity Regulatory Board (APERC) has collected a referendum; electricity usage is high due to scorching summer hence the current bills have spiked up, " Balineni Srinivasa Reddy said.
He ruled out the allegations over an old woman has got Rs 3,700 bill in Guntur. He made clear that it was happened after the metre was used by the house owner who consumed 671 units in March and April, otherwise there is nothing to do with the increase of power charges.
Responding to Former MLA Bonda Uma's remarks of his house has got a bill of Rs 33,000, the minister said that Rs.14,000 was related to pending bills of ha house. Minister expressed outrage over the opposition leader Chandrababu Naidu's comments on power bills, which is misleading the public with the false propaganda. "Naidu has no right to speak about the reforms in power sector, " Balineni said.
