Prakasam's Abhay Vehicles inspire Uttar Pradesh cops
Ongole: The Abhay Vehicles introduced by the Prakasam district police already won accolades from various sections of the people throughout the state, but also inspired the Uttar Pradesh police to launch similar police response vehicle service in their state.
The Prakasam SP Siddharth Kaushal launched the fleet of Abhay Vehicles with eight jeeps and 70 motor vehicles to help the distressed women reach their home in the wee hours between 10.00 PM to 05.00 AM.
About three to four women are calling 100 daily and seeking the help of drop home service by the police department in Ongole, Kandukur, Markapur and Chirala. Impressed by the system of Abhay Vehicles, an All India Service officer from Podili and a secretary in the agriculture department in the union government, Ariz Ahmed announced to donate a two-wheeler to the Prakasam police for use as the Abhay Vehicle.
The note issued by the Prakasam police on Thursday said that the Uttar Pradesh DGP OP Singh also impressed by the emergency help system and launched the Police Response Vehicle in their state. The women travelling alone or in an emergency can utilize the police response vehicles by dialling 100 in Uttar Pradesh too, now from 10.00 PM to 06.00 AM.
