Amaravati: Pressure on him for action against graft, reveals CM

Amaravati: The state government appears to be determined to go ahead with its proposal of reverse tendering regarding the Polavaram project. Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy reportedly told officials and members of the cabinet sub-committee on Wednesday that there were pressures on him regarding certain decisions of the state government, but he said he was not the one who would compromise in his fight against corruption.

"Everybody must remember that the money saved in the reverse tendering will reduce burden on the public," he said and urged people and officials to support every effort of the state government in curbing corruption. He hoped that the state government is going to put in new standards in providing corruption-free governance.

Calling upon the members of the cabinet sub-committee not to buckle under any kind of pressure, the CM asked them to probe any irregularities committed by the previous government.

The sub-committee is looking into 30 issues, including allegations against irregularities in the Polavaram project. The Chief Minister told them that they should go ahead with the probe without any fear or favour.

Starting from tender procedure to the loans taken by the previous government, everywhere there were hundreds of crores of rupees worth scams, he said.

"We have to protect the public money. The culprits should be punished. Corruption exists even in construction of houses for the poor. If there was no corruption, then there was no need to spend so much amount in construction of the houses, he said.

Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development P Ramachandra Reddy, Finance Minister B Rajendranath Reddy, Agriculture Minister Kannababu, IT Minister M Goutham Reddy, Water Resources Minister Anil Kumar Yadav and others attended the meeting.
