Prisoners also have rights: In-charge Secretary DLSA

Ongole: The in-charge secretary of the district legal services authority and principal senior civil judge B Sobhakumari visited the district jail in Ongole on Friday and inspected the facilities and meals being provided to the prisoners.

The judge said that though they are prisoners, they too have certain rights and appointed lawyers for legal help to the prisoners who cannot afford on their own. She explained about the legal services they could get through DLSA and created awareness on various acts.

As part of the Anti Tobacco Day, she advised them to restrain from bad habits. Jailer PS Ramachandra Rao, lawyer Degala Rajendra Prasad, paralegal volunteer BV Sagar and others also participated in the programme.
