Prisoners to be reformed into responsible citizens

Rajamahendravaram: Director-General of Prisons Ray Vinay Ranjan has said that the government is very much particular to implement reforms in jails in the state effectively and as part of it prisons department is executing many programmes.

Inaugurating HP petrol bunk of Central Prison here on Thursday, he said so far as many as eight bunks are functioning under the aegis respective jails in Rajamahendravaram, Kadapa, Ongole, Dharamavara etc.The department is also trying to convert the jail mates as responsible citizens by involving them in many jail reforms and as part of it the department is selecting good character prisoners of open air jail to work in the petrol bunks.

The prisoners are proving their mettle in various trades available in the prisons and directions were issued to respective prison superintendents to implement the reforms effectively.

A sweet shop of Surushi sweet house also started in the bunk and a bakery and other facilities also provided.Prisons department inspector-general G Jaya Vardhan, coastal region deputy inspector-general Dr I Srinivasa Rao, prison superintendent PG Sai Ram Prakash and others were present.
