Eluru: West Godavari District Collector R Muthyla Raju has warned the private hospitals not to take up delivery cases, unless they are permitted to do so. Addressing medical and health officials at a review meeting, the Collector ordered the officials to take appropriate measures to ensure delivery cases approach government hospitals.

From the report of pregnancy, women should be advised to undergo tests necessary till delivery at the government hospitals and make it a point that all deliveries should be normal deliveries.

He said the private hospitals were not allowed to tackle the delivery cases without permission. If any private hospital violates the rules, stern action would be initiated. Those doing so should be prepared to face police cases and arrests, he warned.

The Collector directed the officials to submit report with hospital wise delivery cases. He said the report should also specify the observations of officials while they are inspecting the private hospitals.

He also sought report from the officials on the number of cases in government hospitals and Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in the district. He would inspect the PHCs next week and action would follow if patients face any inconvenience or doctors found absconding duties.
