Prohibition is not impossible if all stakeholders strive unitedly

Guntur: Principal Secretary of Women and Child Welfare Department K Damayanthi said that prohibition is possible with the combined efforts of all. She addressed a meeting held under the aegis of Madya Vimochana Prachara Committee at ANU auditorium on Sunday.

Speaking on this occasion, she suggested taking forward Madhya Vimochana Udyamam with the involvement of farmers, women, students, teachers and workers.

She said the government will set up de-addiction centres in all the district centres and stressed on the need to conduct counseling to those addicted to liquor.

She expressed concern over some students at school level consuming alcohol.

State Madhya Vimochana Prachara Committee chairman V Lakshmana Reddy said that they will carry out publicity through short films, photo exhibitions, audio, video cassettes and urged the cooperation of the people to make the programme a success.

State Eradication of Rural Poverty CEO P Raja Babu said that they will impart training to 7.3-lakh SHG women and use their services to conduct campaign for total prohibition.

Excise Enforcement Director P Hari Kumar said that they will take steps to check illegal transport of liquor.

Jana Chaitanya Vedika State general secretary Saleem Malik also took part in the meeting.
