Protect paddy from cyclonic impact: Collector
Kakinada: Necessary steps for protection of paddy on heaps in 2,822 hectares in the district was required and the agriculture department should motivate the farmers accordingly, said East Godavari Collector Kartikeya Mishra.
While reviewing the performance of primary sector departments in the district on Tuesday, the Collector said that as per the weather indications heavy rains are expected throughout the coastal area from Wednesday due to Fani cyclonic storm and the paddy in fields should be shifted to safer places.
The Collector directed the officials of micro irrigation project and the animal husbandry departments to take steps for identification of beneficiaries for the schemes to be implemented during this financial year, taking the last years targets as criteria.
While reviewing the performance of sand reaches with the district level sand committee meeting, he said unless the executive agency submits the utilisation certificate for the quantities received previously and required sand quantities for next 15/30 days, no further quantity shall be allotted.
The Collector and chairman of District sand committee said that there are some representations received by the committee for allotment of sand from sand reaches in the district for government works like Polavaram left main canal works, Indian Naval project, Rambilli, Visakhapatnam and for M/s KCL-JCC Joint venture company for Polavaram project, which requires UCs by the agencies for the sand allotted for getting additional allotment of sand and instructed the Sub-Collector Rajamahendravaram and RDO Ramachandrapuram to act accordingly.
