Protection of child rights, a social responsibility: NCPCR
Kadapa: National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) C Hymavathi has appealed to the people to consider protection of child rights as social responsibility.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday she said it is unfortunate that the future of girls becoming questionable in the society following as cases relating to sexual harassment against girls have been increasing daily though stringent laws are being implemented.
She said NCPCR is conducting state level campaigns against the crimes. She said during her visit she has received petitions from the victims mostly related to harassment by step mothers, anti social elements, blood relations, child marriages etc.
The NCPCR has urged the active participation of nongovernmental organisations, social activists, intellectual community to address the problems being faced by girls. Earlier NCPCR has accepted petitions from the public at Collector's office. NCPCR representative Anshu Sarma from New Delhi, JC-2 Siva Reddy, women& Child welfare Project Director Padmaja, and others were present.
