Kakinada: In the old days, puppet shows meant not only entertainment, but also a mode of creating social awareness among the people.

It captured the imagination of Smart City CEO and MD Swapnil Dinkar Pundkar who executed the idea into action by organising puppet shows in pivotal places for creating an awareness among the people regarding cleanliness and hygienic conditions in the smart city surroundings.

These puppet shows are not only entertaining the people but also motivating the people to develop a sense of cleanliness and attempt to keep surrounding healthy. People are also happy for the revival of ancient entertainment form for modern purposes, particularly regarding tidiness in the environment.

Everybody is appreciating the novel idea of the KMC Commissioner Swapnil Dinakar Pundkar and his liking for the old art of entertainment to educate the present generation.

The puppet show helps people to acquire the method of cleaning the places including their houses and also keeping the environment clean. The song 'Arogyame Anandam – Arogyame Sowbhagyam' has been ringing in the minds of the people. People are very much delighted and enjoyed the puppet shows.

The puppet show is one of several efforts of Swapnil Dinkar Pundkar to bring Swaccha Survekshan to the masses. KMC officials conducted puppet show at Dairy Farm center on Friday.

Already, as part of Swaccha Survekshan, KMC officials are conducting many rallies, special conferences, competitions and surveys in Kakinada. KMC conducting these programmes to create awareness among the people as well as to increase the responsibility of the people towards cleanliness. The return gift programme and beautification of hazardous waste places are among few major initiatives.

Swapnil Dinakar Pundkar said that as part of Swaccha Survekshan, they are creating awareness among people apart from trying to promote the ancient arts and artistes. Sri Sai Nilaya Puppet Show founder Thota Bala Krishna lauded the effort of KMC Commissioner for the revival of the glorious ancient form of entertainment.

He ardently desired that similar encouragement may be given by the politicians as well as government officials to give the ancient entertainment a new lease of life. He added that it is everybody's responsibility to preserve and protect this ancient entertainment medium.
