Amaravati: After getting humiliating life threatening warnings from his own party leaders and cadre, the ruling YSRCP MP Raghu Ramakrishna Raju Kanumuri requested the Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to provide security to him through the central government agencies, on Sunday.

Speaking to this correspondent, the MP confirmed that he requested the Lok Sabha speaker to provide security as the State government utterly failed in protecting him.

He said that despite witnessing the burning of his effigies and warnings from the YSRCP leaders and cadre in open platforms, the police in Andhra Pradesh hesitated to lodge even an FIR against them.

He explained that he lodged a complaint on the people who threatened him in the local police station, but the police did not consider it. In a letter to the Speaker, Raghu Ramakrishna Raju made it clear that there was no security for his life in Andhra Pradesh state and he suspected that some forces might have been acting behind the scene.

Reacting to a question, he maintained that the entire wrong doings of the YSRCP leaders and the inaction of the police on his complaint might not be in the notice of the Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The MP explained that, "I opposed the proposal of selling the TTD lands in public platforms as I could not get the appointment of CM. I also condemned the corruption in the land acquisition procedure in the State. That led to the burning of my effigies by my party leaders and cadre."

He questioned that, when the police in the State could find Sections in the law to file cases against the former ministers and TDP leaders like Ch Ayyannapatrudu, N Chinarajappa and Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, why can't they find a suitable section to book the culprits who threatened me?

It is worth mentioning here that he is the second VIP to ask for central protection in the State. Earlier, State Election Commissioner N Ramesh Kumar requested the Union Home Department to provide security as the State government and the ruling YSRCP followers were threatening him.

The MP stated that, "I surprised to see why the police refused my complaint so badly, despite knowing that I have a life threat from the YSRCP".

Earlier, the YSRCP MLAs and the Ministers reacted violently against him as he made serious allegations in land scams and others, in the ongoing house sites scheme.
