Rains bring significant inflows to dams in and around Tirumala

Tirumala: Almost all the dams located in Tirumala forests received substantial inflows due to good rains in Chittoor district including Seshachalm hills this year increasing the water level in the five reservoirs which are the sources for drinking water supply to the holy shrine.

Tirumala requires about 14 MLD (million litre per day) water to meet the water requirements of TTD institutions which include the temple of Lord Venkateswara, other shrines, offices and also for the needs of the pilgrims of about one lakh daily.

According to TTD sources, the total quantity of water available in the five dams is 2,164 million litres against the total storage capacity of the dams which is 5,047 million litres.

TTD is also getting water supply from Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT) which is providing water to TTD from its Telugu Ganga Water Supply derived from Kandaleru dam.
