Rajamahendravaram: 19 women life convicts with good conduct released

Rajamahendravaram: As per the directions of the government, as many as 19 women prisoners, serving life sentence, were released from the women prison here on Friday.

The government had issued GO number 131 on August 15, for the release of women prisoners having good conduct.

As part of it, Central Prison Superintendent S Raja Rao and Women Prison Superintendent K Krishna Veni completed the formalities and released them from. First time, the state government released life prisoners this year.

While two women prisoners completed post-graduate courses, two others completed the degree course through Dr BR Ambedkar Open University.

MP Margani Bharat Ram distributed sewing machines, a kit of essential commodities and Rs 500 to each towards travel expenditure to the released women prisoners. Sri Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swamy Trust donated the sewing machines. Chanda Textiles owner

Chandana Nageswar distributed sarees to them. The jubilant women prisoners met their family members on the jail premises and expressed pleasure for coming out from the jail.

They thanked Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for his initiative to release them.

One women prisoner Rangamma said she will lead a good life in future and added that the imprisonment taught her many lessons. She earned money with tailoring as training was imparted in the prison.
