Rajamahendravaram: CITU sees threat to democracy under BJP regime
Rajamahendravaram: Centre of Indian Trade Unions(CITU) national general secretary Tapan Kumar Sen said that India was passing through financial crisis and constitution as well as democracy were in danger after BJP came to power for second time at centre.
Participating in 9th national level All India Federation of Anganwadi Workers and Helpers conference River Bay resorts here on Sunday, Tapan Kumar Sen said the BJP government was inflaming differences among different sections of people in the guise of religion and caste on one side and pretending to be torchbearer of national integrity on the other side.
He said the very people who demolished Babri Mosque at Ayodhya with utter disregard for law were now coming forward to construct Ram Mandir despite Supreme Court stating demolition of the mosque was wrong. "Prices of essential commodities are skyrocketing in the country.
India stands in 103rd position in World Hunger Index for which the BJP government should feel ashamed. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is trying to handover national properties such as railways, defence sector to corporates.
The government has given relief to corporates to the tune of Rs 1 lakh crore in five months and reduced corporate to 22 per cent," the CITU leader said. The trade union leader accused the BJP government at the Centre of playing with the emotions of people using scrapping of Article 370, Babri Mosque-Ayodha issue to derive a political mileage.
He demanded increase of salaries to anganwadi workers to Rs 12,000, regularisation of their services, provision of social security and shelving any moves to handover anganwadis to corporates. It is time for angwandadi workers and workers of other sectors to fight against the government to protect their rights, he said.
CITU national president Dr. Hemalatha accused the BJP government at the Centre of planinng to dismantle Anganwadi system and called upon the opposition to prepare for to foil the attempts.
