Rajamahendravaram: Endowments dept to impart training to youth in Kuchipudi, Bharatanatyam

Rajamahendravaram: Endowments Department has devised an action plan to encourage classical dances such as Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam etc to the interested candidates by imparting training to them in major temples during this summer season. It is part and parcel of protecting Hindu Dharma and also to increase devotional thinking among the people. At present many youth and children are showing interest on Western culture, music and dance setting aside traditional dances.

Speaking to The Hans India here on Monday, Endowments department Assistant Commissioner KNVDV Prasad has said that summer season is the right time to impart training to students and children as currently they are busy with examinations. Plans are afoot to impart training through dance teachers. Services of those having devotional and spiritual thinking will also be utilised. The Endowments Department will provide wide publicity relating to the training programme in dance.

The summer training helps a lot to know about our classical dances and sends a good message among children about our traditions and culture also which is the need of the hour, Prasad said. Executive officers of respective temples were directed to initiate action in this regard and give wide publicity relating to summer dance training camps. The East Godavari district is having as many as 1,851 temples. Of them, 6C category temples are 1,400 and of them 1,130 are not having any income and the department is paying a monthly amount of Rs 5,000 to 148 temples for Dhoopa Deepa Naivedyams, he said.
