Rajamahendravaram: Houses for all 1.10L oustees to be built before completion
Rajamahendravaram: Water resources minister P Anil Kumar Yadav said the government would complete the construction of 1.10 lakh pucca houses to the evacuees of Polavaram irrigation project before its completion.
Speaking to reporters at Krishnudipalem of Gokavaram mandal here on Monday, the minister said the government had expedited the construction of permanent houses to shift 17,000 families of evacuees in two Godavari districts before flood season in August this year. Around 50 per cent of construction of these houses was completed despite corona crisis and the remaining work would be over by August, he said while adding that Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy had directed to shift 17,000 families oustees by August to rehabilitation colonies.
The minister said the government was not compromising on quality of the houses and any lapses in this regard would be viewed seriously. He reiterated that Polavaram project would be completed as per schedule and added that the government would strictly implement relief and rehabilitation package for the oustees. Basic facilities such as roads, drains, lighting, drinking water were also being provided in the colony, he said.
Earlier, Anil Kumar Yadav inspected the construction of houses at Krishnudipalem and planted saplings in the colony. Rampachodavaram MLA N Dhana Lakshmi, District Co-operative Bank chairman Anantha Uday Bhaskar, joint collector Lakshmisha, Rampachodavaram sub-collector Praveen Aditya and others present.
