Rajamahendravaram: The Jampeta Cooperative Urban Bank has introduced 'mobile banking' for the benefit of its customers, in addition to various existing facilities. It is the first of its kind in the district providing mobile banking in urban banks.

Launching mobile banking on the bank premises here on Thursday, the bank chairman Bommana Raj Kumar said that at present the bank is providing core banking facility, ATM facility etc. The customers can make transactions from their houses using mobile banking facility, he added.

Bank deposits rose to Rs 227.35 crore as against Rs 116 crore in the year 2016, advances increased to Rs 171.65 crore from Rs 66.68 crore and the banks total business turnover reached Rs 400 crore.

The bank started its branches in Anaparthi, Peddapuram, Kakinada, Gokavaram and in Eluru of West Godavari district to spread its activities in addition to the existing branches at Dowleswaram, Morampudu, Sitampeta and Jampeta, he added.

The bank chief executive officer, N Bharani Kumar said that plans were afoot to introduce Bharat Bill Payment System in 2020-2021 financial year. Bank ATMs are functioning without any interruption, he said.

Bank directors RC Sekharm DP Sundari, K Amaranadh, P Harandharh, KV Rao, Raghubabu, M Srinu, CPV Ramanamma and BRC Rao were present.
