Rajamahendravaram: Karthika Deepotsvam attracts hundreds of devotees
Rajamahendravaram: The celestial Karthika Deepotsvam was held at Kotilingala Ghat at Uma Kotilingeswara Swamy temple in connection with Karthika Pournima here on Sunday evening.
Lamps were kept on the Kotilingala Ghat steps and kindled by the devotees as usual. Kailasam set was arranged in the river and the entire area was illuminated with colourful lights. The lights were lit amidst Vedic mantras chanted by pundits which attracted hundreds of people.
Pantham Satyanarayana Charitable Trust (PSCT) with Uma Kotilingeswara Swamy temple management conducted the holy fete.
Later, PSCT chairman and local channel managing director Pantham Kondal Rao said that the event was conducted by following Covid-19 guidelines. Because of the pandemic, Deepotsavam was held in a simple manner without organising any cultural programmes and bursting of crackers, he added.
MP Margani Bharat Ram said conducting the Deepotsavamwas a good tradition and asked PSCT chairman PanthamKondala Rao to continue the same in future also. This type of programmes inculcates the habit of following traditionsand also helps to boost belief on our culture.
MLA Adireddy Bhavani, AA Rao, YSRCP leaders S Sivarama Subramanyam, RSP Rao, A Virraju, corporation commissioner Abishkit Kishore and others were present.
