Rajamahendravaram: Show your mettle in science and technology, said Mokka Jagannadha Rao
Rajamahendravaram: Adikavi Nananya University (AKNU) vice-chancellor Prof Mokka Jagannadha Rao said that women empowerment was possible when women proved their mettle in the fields of science and technology.
Participating in S'HERO'ES of Science and Technology programme held at NTR convention centre here 0n Thursday, Prof Jagannatha Rao said the university had 70 per cent of women heroes and conducting this type of programme was laudable.
The women should think broadly and also try to achieve their goal in a planned manner to elevate themselves in the society and also take great women as inspiration in this regard, he added. Though our mothers and grandmothers were illiterate, they encouraged us to become educated.
He explained about Dr Aparanji of Andhra University who completed research on diabetic problem and other great women while underlining the need to know about them. He also stressed the need to admit men too as members in Sakthi movement.
Shakthi, a national movement for women, co-ordinator Bindu Suraj assured to admit men as members in the movement. Stree-2020 programme was also planned to be held soon in New Delhi, she said.
Shakti state unit member Dr P Vijaya Nirmala, regional co-ordinator Dr T Padmavathi, Dr Vanaja Maddi, Nuclear Fuel Complex deputy chief executive Meena Ravindran and others were present.
